This is an extensive renovation to a Mt Eden bungalow which had been added onto several times blocking the sizeable backyard that existed. Therefore the primary aim of the renovation was to open up to the garden and provide a large living space. In admiration of the church ceilings of Professor Richard Toy, the house ceiling undulates to let light in through the sides and continues to the exterior deck and down the walls to form the fireplace and computer alcove. The complexity and warmth of the timber envelopes the space and connects the interior and exterior.
In 2011 an outdoor room was added that had been part of the original design. This steel and cedar structure is oriented towards the volcanic cone of Mt Eden.
